Penticton Shopping

Shopping is another one of the sweet pleasures that can be enjoyed while visiting Penticton on a business trip or for a vacation. There are boutique stores and brand name department stores as well as major malls and a plaza at which shoppers may search for bargains.

Boutique Shopping

Penticton is a small town with many, many small boutique stores lining its main street that is appropriately named, Main Street. This is a great area in which to park the car and browse from Okanagan Beach in the north all the way to Skaha Lake in the south of the city. Books, jewelry, shoes, and clothing are just a few of the items that shoppers can find in-between the coffee shops and pubs that dot Penticton’s Main Street. Antique as well as arts and crafts stores also make this a great street on which to look for carvings and other items of cultural significance.

Don’t worry if the bicycle gets a flat tire, because the Canadian Tire on Railway Street should have a replacement. Rona on Duncan Avenue will likely carry patio lighting if extra is required, and it might be worth a visit to Home Hardware at Fairview Place to pick up an extension cord. There may just be an inner tube for floating down the Penticton River Channel at the Sears on Skaha Lake Road too, so make sure to drop in before beginning the two-hour voyage.

Major Malls

Cherry Lane Shopping Centre is located about halfway between Okanagan Lake Beach to the north and Skaha Lake to the south. It has about 70 stores and is anchored by London Drugs, The Bay and Urban Dollar. Just east of Cherry Lane on Duncan Street is the Penticton Plaza: a Canada Post outlet, Shopper’s Drug Mart and Safeway makes this mall a place to go for the necessities of life. In the Peachtree Mall, one will find a Wal-mart, another Dollar Store as well as a liquor store and a pub. The Sport Chek might come in handy for those requiring some footwear to walk in one of Penticton's parks and recreation trails. Peachtree Mall is located closer to Skaha Lake Beach in the south end of Penticton.

A friendly pet deserves special treatment, and that’s why the Loughheed Super Centre’s Total Pet may be a good place to shop for last minute dog or cat needs. Zellers and Winners makes this mall a great one at which to grab beach towels, swimsuits or suntan lotion while enjoying life in the Sun. The Loughheed Super Centre is located just across from Cherry Lane Shopping Centre at Main Street and Skaha Lake Road.
